The Story of Hector and Andromache

Prince Hector of Troy married Andromache, daughter of King of Eetion of Thebe. She bore him one son, Astyanax. During the Trojan War, Andromache and Hector both met with tragedy with Hector's death and the desecration of his body at the hand of the Greek warrior Achilles and Andromache's enslavement by Achilles son, Neoptolemus, after he murdered the baby Astyanax. Andromache lived as Neoptolemus's concubine and bore his three sons: Molossus, Pielus, and Pergamus. In a strange twist of fate Helen of Troy's daughter, Hermione, was the wife of Neoptolemus. When Neoptolemus died and Andromache was free she married the last surviving son of King Priam of Troy (and therefore Hector's brother), Helenus, who had also been a captive of Neoptolemus. Helenus later became the leader of Epirus.
